2026 Camp Oz Day #1 – Leaping into Camp Oz

- Updates from Camp

Camp Oz 2026 is officially underway, and what a fantastic first day it was for our 87 total campers – 56 returning and 31 new!

With campers joining us from Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, the fun started right away.

From the first camper arrivals, it was clear there was a sense of excitement in the air. New friendships began forming, familiar faces reunited, and the Camp Oz magic quickly spread throughout camp.

One of the most special things about Camp Oz is watching those friendships take shape and Day 1 was a perfect example of that in action.

The beautiful weather set the stage for a full day of outdoor fun. Campers spent time enjoying a variety of yard games, with giant Tetris and giant Jenga quickly becoming crowd favorites. Friendly competition, laughter, and teamwork could be found around every corner.

Another activity drawing plenty of attention was tetherball. Who would have guessed that tetherball would grow so popular that it’s now giving the beloved Gaga Pit some serious competition for the title of favorite A-field game!

Campers also had a chance to get creative and get a little messy with washable paint. Whether transforming sticks into colorful works of art or putting on their game faces, everyone enjoyed expressing themselves and making lasting memories.

As the afternoon went on, campers came together for one of Camp Oz’s most treasured traditions: the all-camp Capture the Flag game. The Green Team and Blue Team faced off in an energetic battle filled with strategy, teamwork, and plenty of running. Campers cheered each other on, worked together, and demonstrated the supportive spirit that makes Camp Oz so special.

Sunshine and clear skies stuck around all day, and it couldn’t have been better.

Day 1 reminded us that Camp Oz is about so much more than games and activities. It’s about connection, belonging, and building friendships with others who understand and support one another. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings! Be sure to check back tomorrow!
