Earlier this month, the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota (EFMN) hosted its inaugural EpiForum, bringing together clinicians, researchers, healthcare leaders, and industry partners for an evening focused on Emerging Technologies in Epilepsy Care.
Held on May 5, 2026, in Bloomington, Minnesota, the event created an opportunity for healthcare partners across the epilepsy community to connect, share ideas, and discuss how innovation is transforming the future of epilepsy treatment, monitoring, and patient care.
As epilepsy care continues to evolve, conversations like these are helping move the field toward data-driven approaches that can improve outcomes and quality of life for people living with epilepsy and seizures.
A Collaborative Conversation About the Future of Epilepsy Care

The Spring 2026 EpiForum centered on the theme: “Emerging Technologies in Epilepsy Care: What’s Here, What’s Next, and What It Means for Clinical Practice.”
The program explored how advances in neuromodulation, wearable technology, implantable devices, and long-term brain monitoring are reshaping the way clinicians understand and treat epilepsy.
Attendees heard from leading specialists in the field, including keynote speaker Gregory A. Worrell, M.D., Ph.D., a William L. McKnight-3M Professor of Neuroscience at Mayo Clinic and Aisha Abdulrazaq, M.D., assistant professor of neurology and adult epileptologist at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Abdulrazaq.
While much of EpiForum focused on science and emerging medical technology, speakers emphasized the importance of patient-centered care and emphasized how advances in technology only make a meaningful impact if they help individuals experience greater stability, independence, safety, and well-being.

Building Connections Across the Epilepsy Community
In addition to the educational program, EpiForum created valuable opportunities for networking and collaboration among healthcare professionals and corporate partners. The event reinforced the importance of bringing together diverse perspectives to promote collaboration and accelerate progress in epilepsy care and research.
Thank you to our speakers, facilitators, attendees, sponsors, board members, and attendees for contributing your expertise, insight, and enthusiasm throughout the evening.
And a special thank you to planning committee members:

Looking Ahead to Future EpiForum Events
Our first EpiForum marks the beginning of what we hope will become an ongoing series dedicated to innovation, education, and collaboration in epilepsy care.
We are excited to continue these conversations at our next EpiForum, planned for October 2026.
At EFMN, we believe progress happens when people come together to share knowledge, challenge ideas, and focus on improving outcomes for the epilepsy community. By creating spaces for learning and collaboration, we can continue moving toward a future with more personalized care, better treatment options, and improved quality of life for all people impacted by epilepsy.
