A pancake breakfast was the perfect beginning for the day ahead. The second day of summer camp was packed with excitement, laughter, and a little bit of suspense. With the weather forecast predicting thunderstorms, campers and staff started the day with a mix of enthusiasm and curiosity, wondering whether the skies would stay clear or open up with a downpour. As the day unfolded, there was a mid-day rain shower, but the storm never materialized, and the kids enjoyed a full day of adventure.
Some groups kicked off the day with games of basketball, Gaga, and Lightning- all crowd favorites. Other groups made their way to the climbing wall where everyone was feeling a mix of adrenaline and nerves. Some campers soared to the top with ease, while others faced their fears and conquered the climb for the first time with the cheers of encouragement from their cabinmates.
Next came shelter building (some built fairy shelters), the archery range, and team building in the enchanted forest. The campers sure did work up a sweat which was remedied by a freeze pop delivery to each cabin group. Swimming at the beach and Arts & Crafts were also a hit in late afternoon.
To end the day, everyone gathered for an epic all-camp game where campers completed tasks to earn the most stripes to win. The field was filled with campers running, laughing, and some working together. The excitement was palpable as the sun began to set, but still no storm in sight.
As evening settled in, everyone huddled around, the distant rumble of thunder never quite reaching the camp. It was a day full of laughter, new experiences, and a sense of wonder—leaving us to wonder if maybe the storm was just a myth after all…. or was it Camp Oz magic? One thing was for sure: Day 2 was a blast!
