Q: Should I register as a Team or as an Individual

Answer:  Probably a team!

  • If you’re walking with a group of people, pick one person to be your point (or captain!)
  • Additional people can join your team if they want to fundraise, but not everyone attending has to be registered. We’ll get your info when the captain checks in!

-Register as an individual if:

  • You’re not coming to the event with other people
  • You want to fundraise by yourself

Q: I meant to join a team but I have my own fundraising page! Did I accidentally create my own team?

Answer: Probably not! Everyone who registers has an individual page. The total amount raised by each individual on the team adds up to make the total amount raised by the team. Click the team name link on your fundraising page to see your team’s page!

If you did register as an individual by mistake, follow the instructions below to join a team:

Q: I registered as an individual, but actually I would like to be on a team

Answer: Sure thing! Simply:

  1. Log in to your participant center
  2. Select “Profile” and tab to “Event Options”
  3. Scroll down to “Team Membership” and select “Join a Team”
Use the drop-down boxes to search by Team or Captain name, and then select the Team you’d like to join

*Same process works to quit a team and become a solo walker, or to start your own team! *

Q: I can’t reactivate my team from last year

Answer: Let’s look into this:

  1. Were you the captain of the team last year?
    If no
: I’m sorry! Only captains can reactivate their team. Either contact your captain and ask them to reactivate it, or start a new team and be a captain this year.

  2. If yes: Are you logging in with the same username as last year?
  •  I don’t know my username:  Use the “email me my login information” to get your username & a password reset button sent to your inbox. But here’s the catch: it must be the SAME email that you registered with last year.
  • That’s not my current email anymore: No problem! Once you’ve logged in an reactivated your team, visit your participant center and update your email. (If you don’t have access to that email anymore, proceed to option 3)

    3. I am the team captain, I logged in with the same credentials as last year, and I *still* can’t get logged in.
A: Don’t worry, we’ll figure this out. Please email walk@efmn.org with your name and your team name.

Q: Can I change my team name?

Answer:  Sure!

  • Log into your participant center
  • Scroll down and tab over to "my team"
  • Click "Team Name"

Q: I raised $100! Will I get my t-shirt??

Answer: Yes! There’s no system code for a t-shirt this year, but never fear; at the event, the team captain will get a coupon for 1 shirt for every $100 raised to distribute among the team.  (Additional shirts will be sold at the event for $10 each)

Q: How do I get started fundraising?

Answer: Great question! Thanks for raising money for a great cause. Have you seen our fundraising resources page with fundraising tips and tricks? There's a lot of great ideas to get you started:

Thanks again for the time, effort, and resources you put into fundraising to help others rise above seizures. We literally couldn't do it without you!

Q: I’m not going to make my fundraising goal. Will I be charged for the balance?

Answer: Nope! Feel free to set an ambitious goal; there's no harm in trying, and you won't be responsible for the balance if you fall short. Thanks for fundraising for this important cause!

Q: What is EFMN's tax-exempt ID number?

Answer: 410874541

 .

Donations:

Q: I want to make a large donation, but I am getting an error message the amount entered exceed the maximum $501 permitted donation. What gives?

Answer: Sorry about that, and thank you for your generosity! The limit is $500 to prevent accidental large gifts that cost us a fortune in credit card fees. Two solutions:

  • Visit efmn.org/giving and make your gift through our website. Write your team name in the “donation for” box - we'll take it from there and make sure it gets attributed to the correct team.
  • To make sure all of your money is going to help people with seizures (rather than credit card fees), write a check and bring it with you on the day of the event. (See next question to get credit for your gift on your team page!)

Q: I collected donations for my team via cash, check, facebook fundraising, or another method. How do I make my team’s thermometer reflect that amount?

Answer: Team captains can visit their participant center and report and “unconfirmed” gift. The amount will be reflected on the team total & their thermometer will move accordingly - & we’ll make a note to settled up at the walk.

Q: A gift was made to an individual that should have gone to the team, or vice versa. How do I fix it?

Answer: A gift made to a team member is also a gift made to a team! Check the team's page to see your team’s total.

If you'd still like to change gift attribution, please email walk@efmn.org with your name, the amount donated, and the name of the team or individual that the gift should go to.

Q: I own or work for a business that is interested in sponsoring this event.

Answer: Awesome! Please contact Keri Olufson at kolufson@efmn.org or 651.287.2330 to make that happen.
