SUMMARY:West Central Community Workshop
DESCRIPTION:When is a seizure not just a seizure?  How can we tell the difference between a run-of-the-mill epilepsy and an epilepsy syndrome?  What extra information do we gain when we successfully identify and name these rare epilepsy syndromes?  Please join us for a presentation by Dr. Douglas Smith\, a pediatric epileptologist at the Minnesota Epilepsy Group and an expert in rare genetic and metabolic causes of epilepsy.  Designed to be both practical and interesting\, he will be covering both relatively common and extremely uncommon epilepsy syndromes that will change the way you look at seizures.

DESCRIPTION:EFMN and UCB invite you to an evening of discussion on self-care and self-advocacy\, from both a medical and a life perspective. Dr. Sima I. Patel\, MD from U of M Health MINCEP Epilepsy Care will be giving a presentation on epilepsy complete with Q&A time with audience members. Advocate Loretta Boileau will be discussing her experience as a person with epilepsy herself and also as a mother of children with seizures.\n\nEFMN staff Tammy Sammon (Adult and Arts Program Manager) and Erik Williams (Youth & Family Program Coordinator) will be hosting and speaking about resources and events within the Twin Cities epilepsy community. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided.
