This conference will feature both local and national experts in epilepsy.  This program is designed with three breakout sessions:  Parents of Cildren with Epilepsy, Teens and Young Adults, and Adults and Seniors.

2010 Understanding Epilepsy Workshops

As part of our Seizure Smart Communities Initiative, we will hold an Understanding Epilepsy Workshop in an effort to provide the community education about epilepsy and living with epilepsy. Workshops will be approximately 1 ½ hours and consist of 3 speakers: the local EFM staff, a volunteer speaker who shares a little about their experience in living with epilepsy and a physician who specializes in epilepsy who will share information about epilepsy, treatment options and an additional topic about living with epilepsy.

At an Understanding Epilepsy Workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to:

            •  Learn about epilepsy, appropriate seizure response and available treatments from a local physician expert.
            •  Listen to inspiring, personal stories from those living with epilepsy.
            •  Learn about other opportunities to connect to those with epilepsy.
            •  Ask the presenters your questions during the Q&A portion of the event.

FREE Continuing Education Units will be provided to Nurses, Teachers and Social Workers.
